Welcome! I am a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. My research interests include incarceration, religion, gender, organizations, and qualitative methods. My dissertation, “Conviction Behind Bars: Religion and Faith among Incarcerated Women,” is an ethnographic study of religious life in a state women’s prison.
Broadly, my work investigates religious affiliation as it relates to inequality, ethnicity, sexuality, and institutional context. I have previously examined these questions through case studies of early 20th century American Judaism and converts to Catholicism today. My research has been supported by the Association for the Sociology of Religion, the Religious Research Association, and the National Science Foundation.
I earned my B.A. from Georgetown University and my M.A. with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania.
